He (Peace be upon Him) never criticized food. He ate what he liked and left what he didn’t wish to eat.

He (Peace be upon Him) would not reject food.

Our Prophet (Peace be upon Him) would not ask for unavailable food.

Prophet (Peace be upon Him) always began with the name of Allah. Not only while eating but on every occasion, he would recite Bismillah for starting it. This is a famous and common Sunnah, to begin with, Bismillah.

He (Peace be upon Him) always ended eating by praising Allah. Similar to the food he always ended every work by praising Allah.

Our Prophet (Peace be upon Him) loved sweets and honey.

He (Peace be upon Him) loved milk and dates.

He (Peace be upon Him) ate bread with dates, vinegar, or oil.

He (Peace be upon Him) liked watermelon a lot and was fond of it.

He (Peace be upon Him) ate various types of meat and fish.

He (Peace be upon Him) used to sit on the ground while eating.

He (Peace be upon Him) ate with his three fingers.

Noble Prophet (Peace be upon Him) would never lean while eating.

Holy Prophet (Peace be upon Him) would share his food with the person to his left and right.

Prophet (Peace be upon Him) would never drink water while standing. He forbade Muslims to drink water while standing and advised them to drink while sitting.

He (Peace be upon Him) used to tie rocks to his stomach due to hunger and months would pass without food being cooked at his home. Don’t fall into error by considering him as poor he had the riches of the world under his one request to Almighty Allah. Yet he chose the humble lifestyle and always considered this world as temporary abode.

These eating habits of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) will definitely help those who will follow it. In today’s world when the world is suffering from dietary issues and lack of good health, eating habits of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) is the best remedy to maintain good health.
