Description Of Dajjal According to Prophet Muhammad(PBUH)

Ad Dajjal sometimes spelled Dajal, “The Deceiver” also known as the false Messiah. He is an evil figure in Islamic eschatology. He is to appear at a time in the future, before Yawm al-Qiyamah (The Day of Resurrection, Judgment Day).”Dajjal” compare to “Devil” is a common Arabic word, used in the sense of “false prophet,” but “Ad-Dajjal,” with the definite article, refers to “The Impostor,” a specific end of times deceiver.

The term Al-Masih Ad-Dajjal (Arabic for “The False Messiah”) is a literal translation of the Syriac term “Meshiha Deghala,” which had been in the common vocabulary of the Middle East and adapted into the Arabic language 400 years prior to the Qur’an via the Peshitta which uses that term instead of the Greek “Antichristos”.

Since the beginning of this decade, people are more curious to know who Dajjal is and how will he arrives. Dajjal is consider as one of the greatest Fitnah’s in Islam. As condition is getting worst day by day and big indications of the doomsday is almost completed. People are getting a bit nervous and they claim that the time is near.

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) described about the false messiah and warned the people to stay away from him. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) considered as the most knowledgeable person talked about a False Messiah that would come upon the world to misguide the guided and wreak. Dubbed as the ‘Anti-Christ’, the False Messiah.

For every Muslim, the first and foremost believe in Islam is that there is no God but Allah Almighty and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was his final messenger. After him, nobody else would come to guide the world towards the right path, his demise meant the end of Prophet-hood.

After this statement, there is no concept left in Islam to believe anyone else. And if somebody does than he is a part of Fitnah. Muslims believe that prior to the Day of Judgment around about the time that Jesus will return to earth, ad-Dajjal shall gather an army of those he has deceived and lead them in a war against Jesus and the Mahdi (the guider), accompanied by an army of the righteous.

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) described how Dajjal will look like and what would he aims do and from where he come out. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, “Dajjal will appear before Akhirah, which means the Day of Judgement. Even his name, in Arabic, means deception. Dajjal’s motive in the world would be to take as many people away from Allah’s correct path as he can”. The deceiver’s arrival is also stated in Christianity, Jewism and is a vital part of Islam.

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) told his Muslim brethren that a False Messiah would come and misguide our people. While others haven’t been able to put a face on Dajjal, Holy Prophet gave a very definite description of how Dajjal would look. His description of Dajjal is absolutely clear, unlike any other existing scripture.

The Dajjal is not referred to in the Qur’an but belongs to the more extensive material on the End found in the collections of the sayings of Muhammad, which Muslims believe to be inspired, like the Hadith. The following of among hadith describing the Dajjal.

Once Allah’s Apostle stood amongst the people, glorified and praised Allah as He deserved and then mentioned the Dajjal saying, “l warn you against him (i.e. the Dajjal) and there was no prophet but warned his nation against him. No doubt, Noah warned his nation against him but I tell you about him something of which no prophet told his nation before me. You should know that he is one-eyed, and Allah is not one-eyed.” (Sahih Bukhari)

Allah’s Apostle said, “Shall I not tell you about the Dajjal a story of which no prophet told his nation? The Dajjal is one-eyed and will bring with him what will resemble Hell and Paradise, and what he will call Paradise will be actually Hell; so I warn you (against him) as Noah warned his nation against him.” (Sahih Bukhari).

‘Abdullah reported on the authority of his father Umar  Khattab that he heard from the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) say: I was sleeping when I saw myself making circuit around the Ka’bah, and I saw there a man of fair complexion with straight hair between two men. Water was flowing from his head or water was falling from his head. I said: Who is he? They answered: He is the son of Mary. Then I moved forward and cast a glance and there was a bulky man of red complexion with thick locks of hair on his head, blind of one eye as if his eye was a swollen grape. I asked: Who is he? They said: He is Dajjal. He had close resemblance with Ibn Qatan amongst men.(Sahih Bukhari)

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) called Dajjal Al-Awar, “one with blind one eye.  In detail, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said that Dajjal’s right eye would be like a floating grape, shaking, not fixed in one position. Dajjal’s left eye would also be defective and green in color. The Prophet said that Dajjal’s complexion would be “Reddy-Whitelike people from England, North, Scotland or elsewhere.

The Prophet further said that Dajjal would have a prominent forehead and a wide neck. Short in height, but he would be very powerful, even with a hunch in his back. He would walk with his feet apart, not like normal men. Dajjal would have long and curly hair, so thick that his locks would look like snakes hanging from his head, lots of them, coiled together. Dajjal would be sterile, he would not have any children.

The Holy Prophet’s description of Dajjal clearly states that Dajjal would be a man, not a woman, not a theory, not a nation, or any other sort of propaganda. He would be a man and he would be alive. Another hint the Prophet gave us about Dajjal is that he would have the word ‘Kafir’ written between his eyebrows on his forehead. The believers of Allah and Islam would clearly be able to see that word, even if others cannot.

A Hadith narrated by Ibn Majah, Ibn Khuzaimah, and ad-Dhiyaa’, attributed to Abu Umamah, reports that the Prophet of Allah, sallallahu `alaihi wa sallam, said, “There will be three hard years before the Dajjal (appears). During them, people will be stricken by a great famine. In the first year, Allah will command the sky to withhold a third of its rain, and the earth to withhold a third a third of its produce. In the second year, Allah will command the sky to withhold two thirds of its rain, and the earth to withhold two thirds of its produce. In the third year, Allah will command the sky to withhold all of its rain, and it will not rain a single drop of rain. He will command the earth to withhold all of its produce, and no plant will grow. All hoofed animals will perish, except that which Allah wills.” He (sallallahu `alaihi wa sallam) was asked, ‘What sustains people during that time?’ He said, “Tahlil, takbir and tahmid (Saying, la ilaha ill Allah, Allahu Akbar and al-hamdulillah). This will sustain them just as food does.” [Sahih Al-Jami` as-Saghir, no. 7875].

Abdullah bin Umar narrated that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu `alaihi wa sallam said, “The fitnah of Al-Ahlas (continuous calamity) is mass desertion and war. Then, the fitnah of As-Sarraa [meaning ‘the rich’, when some reach people use their money to hire others to fight for them] will start from under the feet of a man who claims that he is of me (of my descendants). However, he is not of me, for my loyal friends are the ones who have taqwa. Afterwards, people will unite around a man whose reign is unstable. Then, the fitnah of Ad-Duhaymaa [it is called ‘dark and black fitnah’ because of its enormity] (will start) and will not leave any member of this nation without severely touching him. When it is thought that its time has come to an end, it will be lengthened. Meanwhile (during this fitnah), a man will wake up as a believer and will meet the night as a disbeliever, until people divide into two camps: A camp of belief that contains no hypocrisy, and a camp of hypocrisy that contains no belief. If this happens, then await the Dajjal on that day or the next.” [Ahmad, Abu Dawood and al-Hakim, Mishkatul-Masabih, vol. 4, no. 5403].

There are other signs to the imminent coming of the Dajjal. Mu`ath narrated that the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu `alaihi wa sallam, said, “The flourishing of Jerusalem will mark the desertion of Yathrib (Madinah). The desertion of Yathrib will mark the start of Al-Malhamah [the Great War that will start between Ar-Rum and the Muslim forces before Muslims conquer Constantinople for the second time]. The start of Al-Malhamah will mark the conquering of Constantinople. The conquering of Constantinople will mark the appearance of Dajjal.” [Sahih Al-Jami` as-Saghir, no. 4096].

The flourishing of Jerusalem will happen by the hands of Muslims, by the will of Allah, after it will be retrieved from the Jews.

The Holy Land will be the seat of the Caliphate because the Messenger of Allah sallallahu `alaihi wa sallam said to Ibn Hawalah, O Ibn Hawalah! If you live to see the seat of the Caliphate of the Holy Land, then earthquakes, disasters and great calamities are imminent. Then, the Hour will be closer to people than this hand of mine to your head!” [Al-Hakim in Al-Mustadrak, vol. 4, p. 420, and he says, “Sahih”].

Then, Muslims will migrate to Ash-Sham to join the Jihad against the enemies of Allah from among the Jews and Christians. People of Madinah will desert it, not because they dislike it, but for the purpose of joining the Jihad for the sake of Allah. Then, it will be totally uninhibited, wild animals and beasts will roam through it, and it will stay deserted until the Hour begins.

Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu `alaihi wa sallam, said, “Madinah will be deserted while in its prime! Then, it will be inhabited by birds and beasts.” [Al-Hakim in Al-Mustadrak, vol. 4, p. 436]

“They (Muslims) will leave Madinah while in its prime. Only wild beasts and birds will roam it. The last persons to be gathered (for the beginning of the Last Day) will be two shepherds from (the tribe) of Muzainah heading towards Madinah. They will be herding their sheep, and (when they reach it) they will find it deserted. When they reach Thaniyyat Al-Wadaa` they will collapse on their foreheads (because the Hour will have started then).” [Ahmad, Al-Bukhari and Muslim, As-Silsilah As-Sahihah, vol. 2, no. 683]

The Destruction of Dajjal

As was narrated in the Hadith by An-Nawwas bin Sam`an, the Dajjal will be killed at the hand of Jesus.

The Dajjal’s death will occur after the angels turn him towards Ash-Sham away from the outskirts of Madinah. He will perish in Ash-Sham near the eastern door of Lud in Palestine, may Allah return it to the Muslim.

Before we start mentioning the second coming of Jesus, we will mention the story of Al-Mehdi, Muhammad bin Abdillah. Al-Mahdi will appear just before the coming of Jesus, Alaihis Salam. He will lead the Muslim nation with justice and kindness and establish Allah’s rule. A righteous Caliphate will reappear after the earth has experienced its share of injustice and tyranny. Jesus will pray behind him. Among Al-Mahdi’s characteristics is that he will spend money on his subjects without counting it, along with many of his other righteous deeds that were mentioned in several correct hadiths.

Dajjal is considered as one of the most dangerous Fitnah. He will create his paradise and hell. He will called himself God (Na Aazbillah). The person who did not obey his order, we will put him into the hell, he created and the person obey his order will be given all the luxuries. According to many description, Dajjal would have a lot of money, food reservoirs and water. He will control the currency. He will travel the whole world in 10 mins.

The idea of a final clash between the forces of good and of evil with the former vanquishing the latter recurs in religious thought. While for some, what follows involves the end of history as presently experienced, and the start of a spiritual reality, for others what follows is an era of peace and justice on a restored planet earth.

This may be a fundamental expression of the human conviction that given cooperation and good will, evil need not triumph. For some, such figures as the Anti-Christ, ad-Dajjal and their righteous opponents are real, for others this is a symbolic scenario representing the very real possibility that humanity might rise above greed, selfishness, ignorance and hatred and build a world in which all people have due regard for the welfare of the whole of humanity, as well as for the health of the planet itself.

Let us pray that Allah Almighty guides us correctly and gives us enough Emaan to denounce Dajjal and not cross paths with him. Let us pray that Allah always keeps us close to Islam and away from all monstrosities, including Dajjal.
